Superhero fantasy refers to a type of television program that involves a superhero setting and characters. It is a subcategory of the action, science fiction and fantasy genres and makes use of character archetypes and storytelling formats similar to those found in comic books. Programs within the superhero fantasy genre are often animated cartoons, but there are also several live-action superhero shows as well such as the original Batman, The Green Hornet, Heroes, No Ordinary Family, Smallville and Wonder Woman.
