"The Gladiators" is the second episode of the American sci-fi/adventure series Planet of the Apes. It was directed by Don McDougall and written by Art Wallace. It first aired on CBS on Friday, September 20th, 1974.

In this episode, Alan and Pete are hoping that a magnetic disc recovered from their space ship might hold the key towards getting them home. While journeying to a prefecture outside of Central City, they come upon two humans practicing their combat skills and Alan loses the disc. It comes into the possession of Prefect Barlow so Galen befriends him in the hopes of getting the disc back. Alan and Pete are captured and forced to participate in gladiatorial combat.

  • This episode was included as the first half of the television movie The Forgotten City of the Planet of the Apes, which also included "The Legacy" and was broadcast in 1981.
  • Actor Jimmy Stader is credited as Jim Stader in this episode.
  • First appearance of Prefect Barlow. He appears next in "The Horse Race".
  • This is the third acting work for Marc Singer. Singer will go on to play the role of Mike Donovan in the V television miniseries and regular series as well as the barbarian Dar in the 1982 film The Beastmaster.
