Biography[]

Nan Flanagan was an important member of vampire society. She was the spokesperson for mainstreaming vampires and the chairwoman of the American Vampire League. When vampires chose to reveal themselves, Nan became the public face for vampire rights across the country. She appeared on several televised outlets including the Bill Maher Show as well as a live debate on TBBN with the fundamentalist Reverend Theodore Newlin. (TB: Strange Love)

The rise and fall of necromancer/witch Marnie Stonebrook created ripples that placed Nan's position within the Authority at great risk. Although Bill Compton and Eric Northman had resolved the Marnie issue, the Authority was displeased with how the witch's actions hurt their cause. Nan was charged with executing Compton and Northman, but she knew that once such a deed was done, her life would soon be forgeit. She quit the VRA and returned to Bon Temps with a group of armed soldiers (whom Eric referred to as "gay stormtroopers") to confront Bill Compton. After a terse argument, Nan referred to Bill as a puppy dog. Northman decapitated all of Nan's gay stormtroopers while Compton flew into a rage, impaling Flanagan with a stake, imposing the True Death. (TB: And When I Die)
