Miriam Lass is a fictional F.B.I. agent and a minor character featured on the NBC crime drama series Hannibal. Played by actress Anna Chlumsky, she first appeared in a flashback scene in episode 1x06, "Entrée".
Miriam Lass was a young blonde-haired agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In 2011, she came to work for Jack Crawford in the Behavioral Sciences division. Jack was impressed with her unique approach to identifying serial killers and put her on the Chesapeake Ripper Task Force.
While investigating the Ripper on her own, she began looking into medical records of people with surgical skill. This brought her to the home of former ER surgeon Hannibal Lecter. She asked him about a previous patient. While Hannibal went to check on some of his records, Miriam saw a sketch on his desk. It depicted a murder victim presented in the same pose as those of the Ripper victims - including elements that had not been released to the public. When Lecter returned, he caught her looking at his notes and strangled her to death.
Crawford received a voice message from Lass (or a recording)4, that presented her as terrified for her life, and saying that she was completely wrong about her assessment of the Ripper case. This was the last unconfirmed murder of the Chesapeake Ripper in over two years. Some within the F.B.I. and the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane believed that mental patient Doctor Abel Gideon could have been the Ripper. He was captured after murdering his wife and her family during Thanksgiving dinner holiday that same year.
In 2013, Jack Crawford believed he was receiving late night telephone calls from Miriam. The voice on the other end of the phone repeated the same words used by Lass on her last telephone call to Jack.
Miriam Lass' was found in season 2 episode 6 , alive but missing left arm.
