Leonard Simon Nimoy was an American film and television actor, voice actor, producer and director born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 26th, 1931. He is best known for his portrayal of the Vulcan science officer Mister Spock on the 1966-1969 science fiction television series Star Trek as well as it's various spin-off projects and feature film franchise.
Leonard Nimoy passed away in his home in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California on February 27th, 2015 at the age of 83. [1][2]

- Leonard Nimoy and longtime friend and Star Trek co-star William Shatner were born just four days apart from one another. Shatner was born on March 22nd, 1931.
- Leonard Nimoy developed the idea of the Vulcan nerve pinch because he believed Spock would not condescend to using more conventional fighting techniques to stop an opponent. [3]
- Nimoy made his directorial debut with an episode of Rod Serling's Night Gallery. He directed the season three episode "Death on a Barge" in 1973.
- Leonard Nimoy directed "The Decoy" episode of T.J. Hooker starring William Shatner.
- In 2004, Leonard Nimoy was tapped to replace fellow Star Trek alum William Shatner as the official spokesperson for the Priceline.com travel services company. Nimoy had several cameo and walk-on roles in which Shatner and he exchanged quips, but ultimately, the position reverted back to William Shatner who had gained even more popularity due to his appearances on the Priceline commercials.
