John Allen Astin is an American television actor, voice actor and director. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 30th, 1930. Astin is best known for playing the role of smooth-talking creepazoid Gomez Addams on the 1960s sitcom series The Addams Family.
Known for his trademark mustache which, while not quite as well known as the lip-fur adorned by actors such as Tom Selleck or Burt Reynolds, has become commonly associated with Astin's usual look.
John Astin is the father of Jeremiah actor and Lord of the Rings star Sean Astin.

John Astin has also done a great deal of work behind the camera as well. As a director, he has worked on episodes of Rod Serling's Night Gallery, McMillan & Wife, Operation Petticoat, CHiPs and Just Our Luck.
John Astin's first feture film work is the 1960 crime thriller The Pusher.
