Hayley Austyn Wheaton is the main protagonist of the 1996 film "Wish Upon A Star." She is a smart, inventive teenage girl who lives in the shadow of her older sister Alex.
She is portrayed by Danielle Harris.

Personality[]
Hayley is very intelligent, which leads her to having an excellent academic life and a high IQ. She is seen reading a science magazine, rather than magazines that girls her age read. She gets high grades and praise from her teachers, who obviously expect a lot from her. Because of this, her teachers were surprised when Alexia talked back to her teacher as Hayley. She is also shown to be creative and inventive.
Similar to the aforementioned, Hayley is also exceptionally friendly and innocent, despite being laughed at. She is much nicer than Alexia, at least, in the beginning of the movie.
In addition to this, she is shown to be very impatient. She gets very angry when Alexia is late to drive her to school, making her very nervous. When she feels this way, she gets very impulsive and slightly aggressive and is unable to control herself. Nevertheless, she feels better when she's in a place where she is comfortable.
One of Hayley's strengths is being eccentric and not caring about what her classmates think of her. She was revealed to wear dirt under her nails. She also really enjoys chewing gum and sticking it to her glass when she's not chewing it.
To sum it up, Hayley is an intelligent, eccentric, and friendly character.

Caitlin is Hayley's best friend. The two sneak into Alex's room and read her diary.

Hayley has short, orange hair. She is often seen wearing fashionable, non-mainstream clothing. For example, in the first scene, she is shown to be wearing a green, red, and white striped shirt with small earrings, black pants, a jean jacket, and a plaid sweatshirt tied around her waist. She also wears an emerald necklace and a watch.
