  • Although he may not be one of the most well-known of Batman foes, Professor Hugo Strange is actually one of the oldest adversaries of the caped crusader, and the first of Batman's villains to ever discover his true identity. Professor Strange first appeared in Detective Comics #36 in February, 1940 in a story titled "Batman Meets Professor Hugo Strange".
  • Victor Fries is a DC Comics super-villain who goes by the code name of Mister Freeze. He was originally called Mister Zero and first appeared in Batman #121 in February, 1959 in a story called ""The Ice Crimes of Mr. Zero". One of the constants governing the character in most of his iterations is that he was a scientist who turned to crime while desperately trying to develop a process to save his terminally ill wife, Nora.
