Game of Thrones is that show that everybody loves. You know. The one with all of the killing, bloodshed, incest and boobies? It's the show where Peter Dinklage took in a Golden Globe and a Primetime Emmy Award as well as a boat-load of cash while laughing at all the people who used to make fun of him for his height. It's the show where Lena Headey gets dog-pounded in the very first episode - by her own brother no less. And yes... its the show that teaches you that you should never get attached to any one character for too long a period of time, for they will inevitably wind up dead.

Game of Thrones is based on a series of fantasy novels called A Song of Ice and Fire by American novelist George R.R. Martin, who kinda looks like a cross between Santa Claus and those guys from Duck Dynasty. The title of the show is taken from the first book, A Game of Thrones, which was first published in August, 1996. The television series was developed by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and produced by Grok! Television. It began airing on HBO on April 17th, 2011 and has been pretty much dominating cable television ever since (along with the equally popular The Walking Dead, which aired on AMC).
