Galen is the name of a fictional character featured in the 1974 television series Planet of the Apes. Played by actor Roddy McDowall, he received first billing on the series and was introduced in the series' pilot episode, "Escape from Tomorrow". Galen appeared in all fourteen regular episodes of the series as well as a special television broadcast of Farewell to the Planet of the Apes, which was a repackaged broadcast of the final two episodes of the series, "Tomorrow's Tide" and "Up Above the World So High".

- The character of Galen was created by director Don Weis and writer Art Wallace based on concepts originally developed by French author Pierre Boulle and movie producer Arthur P. Jacobs.
- Another television character named Galen is a Techno-Mage played by Peter Woodward, who appeared in the 1999 science fiction series Crusade.
- The television version of Galen is not to be confused with Doctor Galen, who was a chimpanzee veterinarian and assistant to Doctor Zira from the 1968 film Planet of the Apes.
- Actor Roddy McDowall played chimpanzee archaeologist Cornelius in the 1968 film Planet of the Apes and 1971's Escape from the Planet of the Apes. He also played his character's own son, Caesar, in 1972's Conquest of the Planet of the Apes and Battle for the Planet of the Apes in 1973.
- A poseable action figure of Galen was produced in 1974 by the Mego Corporation as part of their Planet of the Apes toy line. Other figures from this series include Alan Virdon, Pete Burke and General Urko.
