A for Andromeda is a British television program of the science fiction genre. It ran for seven episode from October to November of 1961. Developed by John Elliot and author Fred Hoyle, the series took place in the distant future where scientists John Flemming and Dennis Bridger discover a radio signal emanating from the Andromeda Nebula. Decoding the signal, they discover that it is in fact a computer program, which will allow them to create an alien organism, which comes to be known as "Cyclops". A sequel series, The Andromeda Breakthrough, aired in the summer of 1962 and took place a year after the end of the original series. A for Andromeda was re-adapted in 1972 for Italian television RAI under the title A come Andromeda. The series was adapted again in 2006 as a made-for-tv movie. Most of the original series has been lost over the years and only a fifteen-minute clip from "The Face of the Tiger" and a 16mm print of "The Last Mystery" survives.
