Dexter Morgan is a fictional forensics analyst and serial killer as well as the eponymous protagonist of the Showtime television drama series Dexter. He is played by actor Michael C. Hall and has appeared in every episode of the series.

Dexter's day job is that of a forensics analyst with the Miami Police Department in Miami, Florida. His specialty is studying blood spatter patterns. What most of his co-workers don't realize however, is that Dexter has some rather peculiar extracurricular activities. He is a serial killer. Guided by the lessons of his adoptive father, Harry Morgan, Dexter channels his dark passions by hunting down the worst individuals that society has to offer and murdering them. All in all, not a bad life.
