Dead Like Me is an American television series of the supernatural fantasy and dramedy subgenres. It was created by Bryan Fuller and produced by MGM Television. It aired for two seasons on Showtime from June, 2003 to October, 2004, totalling twenty-nine episodes. Though the series ended unexpectedly, a tie-in direct-to-video movie was produced in 2009 called Dead Like Me: Life After Death to clean up unresolved plot elements. Both seasons of the show, as well as the epilogue film have been released to DVD by MGM Home Video.
The series starred Ellen Muth as the main character, Georgia "George" Lass, as well as a supporting cast of characters which included Laura Harris as Daisy Adair, Callum Blue as Mason, Mandy Patinkin as Rube Sofer, Cynthia Stevenson as Joy Lass and Jasmine Guy as Roxy Harvey. Recurring cast members include Rebecca Gayheart as Betty Rhomer, Britt McKillip as Reggie Lass, Christine Willes as Delores Herbig and Greg Kean as Clancy Lass.
Dead Like Me was devoted entirely towards the concept of becoming a Grim Reaper and featured a central main character, Georgia Lass, as a reaper as well as a supporting cast of Reapers such as Rube Sofer, Mason, Roxy Harvey and Daisy Adair. In the show, Georgia Lass was a teenage girl who had a stifled and dysfunctional relationship with her family until one fateful day when she was struck down by (of all things) a toilet seat falling from the de-orbiting Mir space station. Georgia became a Grim Reaper for the External Influence Division and was tasked with the duty of routing the souls of those about to die into the Great Beyond. All of Georgia's new Reaper acquaintances shared their own specific job-related quotas as well as a unique perspective on death itself.
