The character proved popular enough with viewers that he was given his own spin-off series, Angel, which ran from 1999 to 2004. Boreanaz appeared in all 111 episodes of Angel and 57 episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Boreanaz also provided the voice for Angel in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer video game.
Outside of the "Buffyverse", David Boreanaz also played the role of FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth in the procedural crime drama Bones, where he co-starred with actress Emily Deschanel. Boreanaz' role in the series allowed him to explore greater range than his traditionally somber character on Angel and his character has been given several notable quirks such as his obessive hatred of clowns and a penchant for wearing colored socks, big belt buckles and crazy ties. Beginning in 2007, Boreanaz became a co-producer on the series beginning with the season three premiere, "The Widow's Son in the Windshield".
