Allusions[]
Many elements of this episode are inspired by the 1988 action film Die Hard, starring Bruce Willis. Jake replaces the names of the gunmen with German sounding names ot reflect the German terrorists from the film. There is also a scene where Boyle saves the day while wearing a white, sleeveless undershirt, much the way that Bruce Willis wore in Die Hard.
Boyle's line, "Yippie Kayak other mothers" is a bastardization of the phrase "Yippie-ki-yay mother fuckers", as immortalized by actor Bruce Willis in the film Die Hard.
