Babylon 5: In the Beginning is a made-for-television movie of the science fiction and action subgenres. It is the second film based on the popular TNT television series Babylon 5 and was released following 1993's Babylon 5: The Gathering. Per the timeline of the film however, it is chronologically the first movie as well as the last, with the framing sequence taking place in the distant future and the main story taking place ten years prior to the pilot episode of the series, "Midnight on the Firing Line". This film is succeeded by Babylon 5: Thirdspace, which was also released in 1998.
