Amanda Tapping is a British-born Canadian actress born in Rochford, Essex, England on August 28th, 1965. Though born in England, she was raised in Ontario, Canada from the age of three. Amanda Tapping is best known for her role scientific genius and military commander Samantha Carter in the Stargate multimedia franchise. Tapping has appeared in more episodes of the combined Stargate franchise than any other actor. She appeared in 211 episodes of Stargate SG-1, 25 episodes of Stargate Atlantis and 2 episodes of Stargate Universe as well as two Stargate direct-to-video films, Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum. In 2008, Amanda took on the lead role in another sci-fi project, that of Doctor Helen Magnus on the supernatural sci-fi/thriller Sanctuary.
