"Pilot" is the premiere episode of the American comedy series Action. It was directed by executive producer Ted Demme and written by series creator Chris Thompson. It originally aired on the FOX Network on Thursday, September 16th, 1999. The series takes place in Hollywood, California and stars Jay Mohr as Peter Dragon, a film director known for his low-budget action movies, the latest of which, Slow Torture, is a box-office flop. Peter is under intense pressure to put Dragonfire Films back on the map, and he starts putting together his next movie. After being sized up by a Hollywood executive, Peter forms a bond with Wendy Ward - a former child star turned high-class prostitute.
