12 Monkeys is an American science fiction television series that deals with the vagaries of time travel. It is based on the 1995 feature film Twelve Monkeys and was developed for television by Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett. The show was produced by Atlas Entertainment and Universal Cable Productions and began airing on Syfy on January 16th, 2015. The initial cast line-up of the series consisted of Aaron Stanford as James Cole, Amanda Schull as Doctor Cassandra Railly, Kirk Acevedo as José Ramse, and Noah Bean as Aaron Marker. Season one guest stars Barbara Sukowa, Emily Hampshire, and Todd Stashwick became series regulars beginning with season two until the end of the series.
12 Monkeys was developed for television by Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett. It is based on the 1995 feature film Twelve Monkeys by David & Janet Peoples.
Emily Hampshire, Barbara Sukowa, and Todd Stashwick were all recurring guest stars in season one of the show, but became main cast members with season two.
Executive producer Charles Roven was also a producer on the original Twelve Monkeys feature film.
